Dr. C. Suresh Kumar, former Superintendent at Niloufer Hospital, highlights that carbohydrates, proteins, and fats are the three key nutrients essential for the body, with protein being the most crucial for growth and body building. Protein needs vary by age—children require 1 to 1.5g per kg of body weight daily, while adults need 0.8g per kg. Rich sources include eggs, milk, chicken, fish, and pulses.Eggs are especially recommended for their high protein value. For optimal growth, children should consume one egg and half a liter of milk daily, ain any form like boiled, omelet, or curry with vegetables.

Mushroom & Spinach Eggs

Recipe by Kanika Madan Sinha

  • 1.Sauté Aromatics:Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped/crushed garlic and chopped onion. Sauté for 1–2 minutes.
  • 2.Cook Mushrooms: Add finely chopped mushrooms. Cook for 5–7 minutes until cooked thoroughly.
  • 3.Add Spinach: Stir in chopped spinach. Cook for 5–10 minutes until wilted.
  • 4.Season: Add salt, black pepper, and Italian herbs to taste. Mix well and spread the mixture evenly in the skillet.
  • 5.Add Eggs: Crack eggs on top. Lightly season eggs with salt and pepper.
  • 6.Cook Eggs: Cover the skillet and cook until egg whites are set.
  • 7.Add Cheese: Sprinkle crumbled feta cheese over the eggs. Cook for another minute.
  • 8.Garnish & Serve:Plate and garnish with chopped spring onion greens or coriander. Serve with toasted sourdough or bread of choice.
