In a significant step towards promoting nutrition, entrepreneurship, and women’s empowerment, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has announced the distribution of 40 Egg Street Food Carts to Self-Help Group (SHG) members under the Indira Mahila Shakti initiative.The initiative aims to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for women by enabling them to establish and operate egg-based street food businesses. The distribution was announced by Minister Md. Azharuddin at Banjara Bhavan, Hyderabad, in the presence of GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan.Egg food carts not only provide an avenue for self-employment but also contribute to increasing the accessibility and consumption of affordable, high-quality protein among the public. Such initiatives strengthen the poultry value chain by creating new market opportunities for eggs while empowering women entrepreneurs at the grassroots level.The Telangana Government reiterated its commitment to making women financially independent through livelihood and welfare programs, encouraging SHGs to expand their reach and create more income-generating opportunities for women from economically weaker sections.The launch of these egg food carts reflects a progressive approach that combines nutrition, entrepreneurship, and women’s economic empowerment, while simultaneously supporting the growth of the poultry sector.
