Feather Conversion Technology
Iranian scientists at NIGEB developed a Bacillus-based, keratinase-enzyme technology that converts poultry feathers — roughly 5% of body weight — into feed-grade meal. Food Production Growth Imperative
The Federation of All India Farmer Associations (FAIFA) says India must raise food production ~70% by 2050 to feed a projected 1.6 billion people. Recycled Poultry Waste Innovation
Jaipur-based Golden Feathers converts discarded chicken feathers into fabric, paper and bags through a 27-step sanitisation process — its feather shawls sell at around Rs 10,000 against Rs 1 lakh for pashmina. Since 2019 it has recycled 500 tonnes of waste (about 57,000 kg a year) and trained 1,200 tribal women, showing how poultry waste can rival premium materials.

Indian Egg Export Markets
India is primarily a domestic egg powerhouse — now over 100 eggs per capita after 20–30 years of rapid growth — with regional exports concentrated in the Gulf, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The biggest scalable opportunity lies in processed egg products like powder and pasteurised egg, in a global trade currently dominated by the Netherlands, USA and Poland.
