Cabinet Decision

"Intensive poultry development blocks will be set up in 14 districts on a PPP basis."

— Official, Chief Minister's Office (CMO)

At present, there are a few poultry groups in 16 districts. The decision would allow 28 more to be set up across the state.

NECC Partnership for Egg Sales

The government is coordinating with the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) to sell eggs and earn some profit for the poultry blocks. The official said that this would help the farmers and provide them with an opportunity for employment.

Coordination with NECC is designed to monetise output from the new blocks while supporting farmer income and rural employment.

The Cabinet has also approved a proposal to start "Tejaswini", a bus service only for women in five municipal corporation areas — Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivali and Nagpur. The buses are intended to help working women reach their destinations faster. The government is going to add 300 more buses for women to the existing stock.

In another decision, the government decided that the "Samruddh Gram Yojana" will be called "Smart Gram" and be implemented from 2016-17 onwards.
