The Celebration

A strong call for protein awareness.

Hyderabad, October 10, 2025: The Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers' Association (IPEMA) – Poultry India proudly celebrated World Egg Day 2025 with great enthusiasm at the Press Club, Somajiguda, Hyderabad. Organized in collaboration with the National Egg Co-ordination Committee (NECC), the event brought together policymakers, health experts, and community members to spread awareness about the vital role of eggs in combating India's growing protein deficiency challenge.

This year's theme, "Protein Awareness – Eggs for Nutrition & Health," focused on the importance of including eggs in daily diets to ensure affordable, accessible, and sustainable nutrition for all sections of society. Eggs, often called "nature's perfect food," were highlighted as one of the richest natural sources of high-quality protein, vitamins, and essential minerals — beneficial for everyone from children and youth to adults, the elderly, and those recovering from illness.

Insights from the Industry

Bridging India's egg-consumption gap.

"Even though India is the second-largest egg producer in the world, the average annual per capita egg consumption in India was only about 103 eggs in 2024. This remains less than half the global average and significantly lower than in developed nations. This gap clearly highlights the urgent need for awareness campaigns such as World Egg Day — to encourage every Indian to include eggs in their daily diet for better health and nutrition." — Mr. Uday Singh Bayas, President, IPEMA – Poultry India
