Sajjad Ghani Lone, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Science & Technology, Jammu & Kashmir appealed to India's biggest poultry farmers, equipment and feed manufacturers to set up business in Jammu and Kashmir and help grow the poultry sector in the state, according to a release issued by Poultry India on Friday.

9th Edition Inauguration — Hyderabad

He was speaking at the inauguration of the 9th edition of Poultry India in Hyderabad last week, where he assured national and international poultry heavyweights that the J&K government will do everything possible to ensure investments are protected and bureaucracy is virtually non-existent. Mr Lone's visit was followed by yesterday's announcement in Srinagar of the vision document that spelled out his government's role to enhance the Animal Husbandry sector.

Fast-Track Implementation Promised

Through his various one-on-one meetings with leading poultry manufacturers on the sidelines of South Asia's biggest poultry event, Mr. Lone encouraged the poultry industry to set up modern farms in Jammu & Kashmir, and assured all that his government would guarantee fast track implementation for those wanting to do poultry business in J&K, which has a very strong growth potential.

Rs 2,000 Crore Vision Document

The minister yesterday unveiled a Rs 2,000 crore vision document to revamp the livestock sector with an aim for the state of Jammu & Kashmir to achieve self-sufficiency in the production of poultry, meat and milk by 2025. The vision document has the potential to mitigate huge annual state expenditure of Rs 3,500 crore spent on the purchase of poultry and meat.

Ground-Level Rollout via District Workshops

His ministry will translate this document to make it operational on ground and hold district level workshops to educate people on the salient points of the vision document.
